Rest of January

Well now that the Fireman's Run is sorted - and wow!  What a time that was - I'm really going to have to work hard next month when I'm back to running it - I was only 7 mins slower walking it!

12 January - day started lazy (not as planned) then I headed out for a 3 mile walk - stopped to visit a friend half way to give my arm a rest.  Then I went onto run club and later out to another meeting, walked another 4 miles - so 7 miles in total, quite impressed with that effort!

13 January - arranged to meet up with 2 friends, timings went all wrong so I rejigged my day.  Went for a speed test lap of the lake - walked it in 11.31, not bad, but I need to get to the under 9mins running.

14 January - first physio visit.  I was given lots of exercises to do, the physio could see improvement during the session, so we were both happy with that.  Finally managed to get a sleeve on, so I was over the moon about that!

Physio was really impressed, I'm now allowed to do pool exercises and take my sling off to go power walking with my Monday night group - which I did tonight - we did 3 mins power, 1.5 mins slow x9.  I managed to do 7 power before I had to cradle my arm on the slow walks, but it's a start.  I don't think I'll be running the February Fireman's Run, but my aim is to run the March one (last of the season) and finish of a high!

I had my first go at rehab swimming at our local pool.  I expected to be doing small movements under water, a very gentle type of aquarobics.  What I got was a lot more than that!  I was using the foam roll, pushing and pulling it against the water in various directions, bringing my elbow up is the hardest part of it.  By the end of the session, she had me swimming half-lengths!!!  8 of them!  Very happy at the end of that session.  I'll definitely be going back for more, and even got a couple of friends who want to go to aquarobics with me after half-term.
