This blog is a journey about getting fitter, it's not about losing weight, but if that happens, that's great. If you're looking for something else, then keep looking, this ain't for you!

If you'd like to join me, then you're more than welcome to follow & join in the progress, and let me know what & how you're doing.

Only nice comments & discussions welcome, if you don't like something about me, please keep it to yourself and check out other blogs instead.

16 Dec - Week 2 of T25 - Good Angel v Bad Angel

Monday - Nada
Starting to think that getting this going before Christmas wasn't a good idea - running out of room in the lounge to move at the mo!  Also my hip/leg is still aching from last Friday.  Got good & bad angels sitting on my shoulders, one's tempted to delete the blog and start again when it's going to look a bit better, the other is saying that from tomorrow work slows down for the week, and I should stick at it a bit longer.

Tuesday - T25 Cardio
After writing yesterday, I got going and wrapped all the pressies that were in the way in the lounge, kinda killing two birds with one stone (and for all those potential Christmas Pressie thieves out there that the cops keep reminding us of.....by the time you read this, they'll've been posted off, so HAHA!)

Nailed the Cardio session (modified) this morning :-)

Won a prize from our local sports centre!

Wednesday - T25 Cardio
I've been having a bit of ache because of sciatica, so I decided to just redo the Cardio, rather than move to the next session.  I may do the Speed one later on this afternoon.

This is as far as it got - tramadol required.

9 December 13 - Week 1 of T25

Monday - T25 Cardio

Well, it's Day 1 (actually, I did do the cardio DVD on Sunday, as a practice) and I've done the first session, managed the modified version, but my poor legs were nearly killing me!  It was like my body had forgotten that only 3 weeks ago I was doing this stuff and more, with no bother!

I was just glad that I managed to fit in the 25 mins, because Monday is my busiest work day.  I squeezed in the time instead of having a lunchbreak, and ate my lunch on the way to and from work instead!  Really, there was no other way to do it today!

Tuesday - T25 Speed 1.0

My poor legs!

Haha - Speed!?  I think not!  Well at least I gave myself a giggle on the title!  I did manage to complete the 25 mins, so I was quite happy with that.

Another busy work day, and I didn't have time to do the 25 mins in my break, so I fitted it in the afternoon between shifts.  I know it's only 25 mins, but it's really 25 mins + cooldown + shower and still need 15 mins (sometimes more) to get to work.

Toe-tied doesn't even start to cover it!  Tripping over my shoelaces might actually have helped!  I couldn't quite get the co-ordination to do the fancy footwork and clap hands over my head or squat in time, so most of the times that was needed, it was more like "Fxxx it, I'll just keep moving and that'll have to do!"  (and hoping that no one was walking up the road to see me!)

Wednesday - T25 All-Body workout
Happy Hump Day!  (middle of the week, all down hill from here - incase you don't recognise the expression)

No problems with the legs today, obviously the muscles have remembered that they can do these exercises!

Today's exercises involved doing the Plank, press-ups and I can't remember what they called them, but I call them spiderman plank/press ups (anyway, your foot should end up by your hand).  The instructions weren't 100% clear in places, they said not to look at the tv while doing these, anyway.... I ended up doing the Plank for longer than necessary because they didn't say to stand up!!  Guess I can hold it for more than 60 seconds then!!!

Mental note - make sure that these exercises are done AFTER the postie has done the deliveries!

Thursday - Whoops

Good news, I got ready to go to the shops and cheekily thought I'd try on a pair of jeans that didn't fit about 2 weeks ago.  They're baggy in places!

Bad news, we had a bit of morning and I was knackered by the time I finished work, so I had a nap in the break instead (fell asleep drinking coffee, says it all).

Friday -  What happened?!
No idea what happened, but somehow ran out of time for 25 mins spare!  And I managed to hurt my back a bit (we really do need to replace the sofa).

Saturday - Working & Christmas party
Well this week started really well, and now look at it!  Never mind, I said I'd be honest.  I did walk to my friend's place before going to the party, (even though I had two offers of a lift) and I walked home again in the wee small hours too.  Danced the night away & even though I was the second oldest in our group, was the only one who got chatted up!   Also felt fab in my party dress!

Sunday - Christmas shopping & tree etc

Perfect excuse, the weather was so bad yesterday that no one went out to the shops, so they all opened today & we went with everyone else to do yesterday's shopping!   Got the tree, came home & put it up, decorations & writing cards & stuff all over the place.  There really, truly, honestly, actually and literally was nowhere to do the exercising!

Introduction and goodbye to 2013

2013 went quite well for me, fitness-wise, till I got sciatica and couldn't exercise for about 3 weeks in November!

I got a bike in January and love it!  I am lucky to have a job where I can cycle to jobs every now and then.  I'm getting recognised round town now, even get people come up and say hi....I have to admit, my bike is very cool!

At Easter we camped in -2c for a hockey festival - in a little 2-person tent, no mod cons for us this year!

In May I did the IronMay competition, which is basically doing an IronMan competition, but you have the whole of May to do it - some people managed to complete more than 1!

A "no tins" campstove cooking!

In June we had a camping holiday (same little tent) and I helped my boyfriend get to the top of Scafell Pike, which is the highest point in England.  He's diabetic, so I wasn't going to leave him to go on his own.  I wasn't impressed with the amount of rock climbing and walking across waterfalls involved, and then my knee locked up, so I basically hopped down a mountain!!!

part way up Scafell Pike
this is rock climbing!
That's part of the Scafell Pike trail!

In October I started going to a bootcamp, and got up for a 6am start, 3x a week.  My fitness improved and I was even running 10 lengths of the hall by about 8/9 weeks.  I can hold The Plank for 60 seconds at a time now, and do plenty of squats, crunches and press ups.

hiding behind the Autoharp
In November I started to learn how to play the Autoharp!  That's a whole separate blog, I think!

I got sciatica and that's not nice, but could be worse, so I'm grateful it's not.  I decided not to continue bootcamp, but doing a DVD course that my friends have recommended.  I started it on 9 December 2013, so I thought it would be a good idea to follow my progress using a blog.  Gotta start somewhere!
